la negra grew up listening to Motown classics, jazz vocalists, Bossa-Nova and Rap, that inspired her to write her first poems, and later on songs. Hip-Hop and R&B artists during the 90s became her most significant influence, being her source of inspiration that shaped her style, both as a singer and a dancer. 
 

Jazz and 90s soulful sound had become her trademark.

 

 

She mentions Aaliyah, TLC, Jill Scott, J Dilla, Mos Def, Stevie Wonder, Lalah Hathaway, 2Pac, Esperanza Spalding, Gregory Porter, A Tribe Called Quest, Sarah Vaughan, Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, Common, Erykah Badu, Whitney Houston, Will Smith, Vivian Green amongst others, as the artists that had a great impact in her life.

She has been travelling to study her craft and to work with other artists from around the world.
